Okinawa

C-Falcon, August 1998, Don Dunbar, APO. Based out of Kadena Marina. Bring own drinking water and full tanks; no compressor on board. One fellow had a leaky valve on his second tank and there wasn't a spare on board he could use. I let him use my tank from my first dive which still had 1,450 lbs after a profile of 70 ft to 35 over 55 minutes. . . . $45 for a two dive trip to the beautiful Karama Islands, south of Okinawa. Diving incredible; the bottom was covered in soft and hard corals, with reef fish lazily swimming about. Sea fans, crinoids, giant clams, and huge structures of shelf coral to catch the eye. Between dives, I swam to the island closest to us (about 1/4 mile) and walked along the deserted sand beach and looked over the coral rock formations and beautiful tropical plant life. On the swim back I could see bottom features in 80 feet of water! Water temp: 81, visibility: 100+
