I have been diving the BVI for almost 20 years, and I think this was the
best, especially from a Pelagic/Shark perspective. The corals took a hit a
few years back when sea temps peaked at 91 degrees, now at 78, they appear
to be fairly healthy, except at the snokeling sites. We saw Caribbean Reef
Sharks in the 5-6 foot size on the majority of dives. In one case, they
joined us in the beginning of the dive and for the last 15 minutes, making
many very close passes. The larger of the two head butting the weights
hanging off the stern line, but never aggressive towards us. Lots of Eagle
and sting rays, and the largest Queen trigger I've seen. Plenty of Jacks,
Pompano. one very big grouper and a nurse shark or two. Unusual small guys
include slipper lobster, and finger print slugs. The reef fish were
plentiful and did not seem overtly diminished.
Dive BVI is a great operation, and I particularly liked diving with Johann
and Belinda of South Africa, and Jeff, one of the co-owners. They were as
excited as their charges seeing the Sharks. Boat (Sea Monkey)is comfortalbe
and spaceous, especially with 3- 5 divers !
