Rinse tank for cameras availiable on the boat, crew would hand down you camera once in the water, however one diver complained that he did not get to shoot one dive because no one handed his camera to him. |

Seas were rough first weekend after labor day and many divers were seasick. Once in the water and below the chop the conditions were excellent. 80+ degree water and 80 feet vis. My dive buddy only used a shorty. Wrecks including the U352 were excellent dives, current down below was minimal. Plenty of sharks. Capt George was very good with his briefings and he and his crew were very good about everyone being accounted for. They were very safety concious yet allowed every one dive their own plan. Boat ladder was "fins on" and crew removed your fins for you. Nice touch. Possible tropical storm brewing offshore made the 2 hour boat ride & two hour surface interval too much for some divers who opted out the next day. Boat was very roomy and the sundeck made it nice for socializing, sunning and snacking. Bring a lunch, they provide coolers for your snacks. If seas are rough take Dramamine and eat Saltines. Accomodations at the lodge was not private but very comfortable, and made the trip very cost effective. Raps Bar and Grill next to the lodge had good food and atmosphere. Again, the wrecks were awsome and North Carolina in my view an often overlooked dive destination. Will return next season. |
