Comments My friend and I dove with Key Dives in 2015 when we booked a hotel that had a deal with them. Since we have been diving in the Keys for the last 10 years or so since she moved to Miami, we weren't too optimistic. We were pleasantly surprised last year when there for her 60th birthday and even more impressed this year when we dove with them again for my 65th birthday. My husband and myself were in Islamorada for three weeks and planned to dive with them exclusively. When the weather cooperated.

We tried a lot of shops in the Keys in the past. They all seemed to have at least one problem where we didn't think of it as "our" shop. Key Dives hit all the right notes for us. Since we're all "mature" divers with over 500 dives for 2 of us, we know what we're looking for. From the first time we met Mike at the shop checking us in, to the last dive we did this year, (or tried to but the boat captain felt it wasn't safe to dive because of the high seas and winds) the operation was professional, caring and knowledgeable. Mike's staff made sure we were safe with everything we did, from gearing up to climbing back up the ladder. The dives were typical Keys dives, shallow, coral not in great shape, vis not great all the time. They went out of their way to make sure each dive was special. Back in the day, we weren't too crazy about having a guide but as we mature, its comforting to know that there's a designated person for a small group. We were able to go off on our own to investigate but the guide was always doing head checks and pointing out cool stuff. So I don't want to push them as being the ultimate "senior" diving shop but they know what they're doing and make all the dives fun. That's why we do this, right?
