Comments I spent a week of diving in West Palm Beach. The first four days were spent on reefs south of the West Palm inlet (there was a purging of local canals into the inlet and the currents carried those muddied waters north and dive boats during this week were operating in the clearer reefs south of the inlet).

Along the reefs were abundant turtles, nurse sharks, Giant Groupers, Rays, and lobster. The currents were manageable, except around the wrecks just west of the inlet. At these wrecks you had to tie off or find shelter from the currents in order to take pictures.

The highlight of the week was a day trip shark dive on Friday to take pictures of sharks in open water several miles from shore. This was a dive for experienced divers and Jim Abernathy's handling of the event ensured great opportunities to take photos of groups of sharks.
