The accomodations were older, but nice, on the water ( adj. to a marina) with a pool. Bedroom upstairs with a pull out sofa downstairs- full kitchen. Night life and some restaurants within walking distance. We dived with Island Ventures- typical keys diving where the dive master won't get wet without a $50.00 fee. It's easy to get lost, and many pop up to see where the boat is, as with currnt you sometimes end up farther out than you think you are- there are no walls to follow. The boat was an island hopper with a capacity for 12 max. divers. Sites are 45 min. out, or so. Water was provided(bring your own food, and a seperate rinse tank for the cameras.Diving was good, sea life prolific, but, of course it wasn't carribbean vis! Some dives had a bit of current, others not. We saw reef sharks on most dives, also large blue and midnight parrots. Shark Reef was our favorite dive site- 3 giant pillars @ 75 feet to dive around- huge gag and blk groupers, Midnight parrot, rock hinds, angels.Reef sharks in and out. Vis was only about 40' here- with good vis, who knows what we would have seen. Another favorite dive was Blue Hole- very prolific. |
