Fantasy Island is undergoing a renovation. We were looking for a bargain
vacation and the cost for an all inclusive eight day/seven night stay with
3 boat dives a day was $700. The rooms were very clean, but the sheets on
our king size beds never stayed in and we wound up sleeping on the
mattress. The food was plentiful and good. The dive shop emphsized tipping
in the briefing, but did little to earn it. You haul your own gear, set it
up and take it off the boat. Michael, the DM seemed very uninterested in
showing us anything. We found stuff on our own and our group shared things
with each other. There were only six people on our boat, so it could have
been a little more adventerous than it was. The reefs are spectacular, but
there is a sameness in all of them. Mary's Place, a must do dive, has some
great swim throughs. The dive shop has good facilities for cleaning up and
hot showers to warm up after the dive. All in all, for a week at Christmas
time, I think it was a pretty good deal.
