Comments I had to travel to DR for a wedding and after consulting with Undercurrents realized that there was no good diving in the Puntacana area. On the recommendation of the reports in Undercurrent I emailed DivingDR, connected with Denise, and made my reservation. Because all the dives are essentially private dives, Denise was willing to talk to the couple who had booked the day in which I was interested. The couple agreed and I was added to the party. When I arrived in the DR, my wife and I rented a car and took a 2-hour drive to Bayahibe from Puntacana and it was well worth it. We got to see some of the Dominican Republic, including the city of Higuey, and met two of the nicest people I've ever met--Vlad Heger and his wife, Denise. They run a great, small operation. Vladi was not able to dive that day, but my divemaster, Bruno, was very good.

We did two dives--one a wreck at 110 ft and the second over the coral reefs. The wreck dive was good as was the reef dive. It was rather cloudy so visibility was lower than usual, but it was still a good experience. There were lots of large fish around the wreck. There were more small critters to see in the coral reef area.

After returning to the dock, Vladi and Denise introduced us to some of the local folks as we ate lunch together at El Cafecito de la Cubana. Great food, great company, great diving, and a great day. Highly recommended for divers at all levels.
