Comments	I wish I had known that we would not have been diving with Chivo (Martin Duran) who is a great divemaster and Instructor who really knows the sites and the area. Unfortunately he was not available to dive while we were there although we were assured that he would be diving. It appears that all of the small shops contract independent Divemasters to take out groups from several shops at the same time. These guys are from everywhere but Playa del Carmen and only know sites for basic diving.

UW Photo Comments	[None]I've been diving at Playa del Carmen a few times before with Chivo and had some great dives. This time out the dive operation paired us with an itinerant Divemaster from Canada who knew less about dive sites than I did. Overall our group of three was matched continually with divers who talked a good game but couldn't dive for beans. We were very disappointed and after a few days stopped diving because the sites were nondescript and shallow with strong currents.
