Comments Fourth trip to SCC. Rooms are perfect for divers. Very firm mattresses, efficient but loud AC units, no TV, bar fridge - basically perfect for diving. Location is fantastic. 10 minutes to town and 5 mins walk to two great supermarkets. Shore diving in front of the resort is fun and great for impromptu dives.

We had 8 to 13 divers on our boat. Two DMs. One for beginners; the other for experienced divers. Currents were blowing. Strongest that I've ever encountered in Coz. Villa Blanco was unbelievable. We did 18 dives in 6 days including two night dives and shore diving in the front of the resort. Visibility was awesome all week. Average daily temps in water were about 83.

Resort food was good - "Hot and a lot" - and they are very accommodating to divers. They will keep a meal for you until you return from a night dive at 9:30pm. DM was excellent - we saw 4 Splendid Toadfish on ONE dive, countless nurse sharks (ho hum) and many turtles.

My only personal complaint is that the average age of the divers seems to be about 65; It's become a senior citizen's haven. Not much going on at the bar after 7:30pm.

For the cost, the ease of a good diving experience, the reliability of the service people and the same staff for many years...Why not keep coming? It is a good value. I first went there with International Diving Adventures with Hank Ketels of Foothill College (California) in 1978 I think. Been back many times and had my daughter and wife certified there. It is especially nice as all the food has been great. Most good dive spots have an empty bar because everyone is getting early sleeping for the morning diving!

If you started coming in 1978, then you're pretty much slot right into the demographic I described. LOL. I love the place but it's a ghost town after dinner. And no I'm not looking for PDC either!

Great commentary. Any other places similar you would recommend in Cozumel? I am 65 and I also dont want to be stuck with a bunch of old people. I like concept of great boat diving from onsite pier and breakfast and lunch coordinated with diving and close to town for dinner -- the alternative all inclusive resorts are boring.. Is there anything closer to reef?

I always stay at Scuba Club. There is another resort, I think it is San Francisco, which is down near the reefs on the south side which is "supposed to be good". I do not know. Now, if you want Belize--- Look at Hurrican or Itza, both on Long Caye, 50 miles offshore and close to great diving.
