We based our choice of dive operator on a Chapbook review recommending
Stefano Pedroni of Bahia Divers. He runs a small shop on Xpu-Ha Beach and
uses small locally owned boats. Entry is by backroll and there is a small
ladder for exiting the water. The big plus is that they take no more than 6
divers per boat and we were fortunate to be in a smaller group of 3 divers
and one divemaster which was great. Stefano is a most congenial divemaster
and is both highly skilled and safety-conscious. We greatly enjoyed his
company and look forward to diving with him again. Bahia Divers also
offers guided snorkelling tours, cavern and cave dives. The business end
of the operation is handled by his partner, Clare, who made us most welcome
also. On previous occasions I have dived with large resort dive operators
in the region and have been disappointed with the operations and the dive
locations. Bahia Divers took us to some of the better dive sites. We
stayed at the Bahia Principe Tulum, a 5 star all-inclusive resort which was
first rate in accommodation and food and we would likely return. Bahia
Divers will pick up/drop off at area hotels.* Please note that the resort
dive shop is also called Bahia Divers but is not the one run by Stefano and
Clare.
