Went to Barbados since we got a good deal on off season lodgings and wanted to dive & relax. Stayed in St. Lawrence Gap in Christ Church (SW side of island) at the Time Out Hotel. Found Divepro via the web which was right down the street & set up some daily dives. The on shore shop which is right across the street from a small harbor where the diveboat was anchored. Was amazed and delighted at level of service. Shop run by Summer Rain Worme (yep that's her real name...) a 6th generation "Bajan". She & her team (Jen, Adrian, Duane & Greg) had all our gear ready for diving each day on board, took it all back to the shop at night for rinse out & hanging each night we were there. I felt pampered to the point of guilty. Dove some neat reefs & wrecks. Most reefs 60 feet, wreck of the Stavronikita approx 100 ft. There's a marine part with 5 wrecks at 30-40 feet with lots of corals & fish. Not a lot of big pelagics, but LOADS of turtles, fish, corals & eagle rays. They keep a close eye on new divers, but let more experienced divers do their thing. Prices are reasonable, good selection of courses to take & staff couldn't do enough for us whether diving or giving us tips on where to go, what to see, & where to eat. Would go back in a heartbeat to dive with these guys again! Hope they are around for a long while! Wish I knew how good it was - I'd have booked 2 weeks instead of one! |
