Comments This was our 6th trip overall to Green Turtle Cay and diving with Brendal. The flights to Treasure Cay were ok, but a hassle coming back. Our rooms were on Turtle Point, duplexes which are privately owned and rented by the Green Turtle Club. The rooms were fine, with excellent service daily. We lost power one night, due to auto accident that knocked down a pole, so it got warm. The internet for our unit was out also, but we did have access at the Club. The food at the Club is fine, with superb conch chowder and conch salad. We ate several times downtown (12-14 minutes by golf cart ( a necessity)). Harvey's, MacIntosh's, Lizard Bar all were very good.
The diving was poor the first part of the week, with daily storms, but no control over that. The surge was no fun, but lessened later in the week. Brendal took us to several new sites, which were really excellent. The viz was 30-50 feet most of the time. There were reef sharks, turtles, and plenty of small critters. The fish life was good, and the reefs generally healthy, other than a good bit of red algae on several sites. The bottom times were generally 40-60 minutes and the deepest I went all week was 59'.
The boats are ok, with excellent help by Daniel and R.J., who helped Brendal with the work. The week finished with the traditional picnic, which included lobster, grouper, salad and lots of rum punch.
This is a good place for families, and good for new divers who have little experience. For advanced divers or those looking for adventure, this is just ok. We will likely return.
