British Cuan Law, January 1997, Pat Becker, Redwood City, CA. "Water: 79 to 81 degrees, Vis: 45 to 80 feet. Great crew and wonderful accommodations. Good beginners and intermediates or families with mixed experience levels. Advanced divers looking for an intensive dive experience should avoid. . . . Allowed us to do our own thing. Lax on safety measures. Didn't log divers in and out of water. Five almost got left at a dive site. Quarter mile from boat because no one was monitoring divers in the water. No buddy system established for nonpaired divers. . . . Great overall vacation experience; average diving holiday." Cuan Law, January 1997, John Taylor, San Diego, CA. "Water: 76 to 78 degrees, Vis: 70 to 60 feet. BVI has no real tidal wash (hence detritus in water) and quite shallow (80 feet or so) Great boat layout, plenty of room, dives essentially shallow (40 feet calm dives). Great coral formations, very few adult fish. Dive personnel excellent. 3 dives per day (morning, afternoon & night). . . . Negatives; not camera friendly. Young Capt. immature and moody crew reflects Capt.. Cook overly ambitious food so/so very few after dive snacks truly 6 day trip 4 _ days diving overpriced. If staying overnight, be sure to stay in Road Town! Good food at C&F (BBQ $5 cab ride in) Great pub fare at Pussers." Cuan Law, June 1997, Jeff Milman, New York, NY. "1st class live-aboard. Large a/c cabins. Good gear stowage. Each cabin has own bathroom. Alas, hand shower only, rinse, soap, rinse. Why don't dive boats have unlimited salt water wash and soap cycle, then final fresh water rinse. Food suburb. Dinner served on deck on china, wine in crystal. Large comfortable salon. Open bar (extra costhonor system). Three dives per day: morning, afternoon and night. Excellent crew; Captain Dan (after 7 years aboard!) and Cindy, the chef, moving to new pastures. Annie Muirhead and Duncan the coowner committed to excellence, so hopefully fill-ins will be up to par. Gavin and Johana are excellent divemasters to beginner and struggling divers. vis: 40 50 ft. water: 8385 degrees. Max depth 85 ft determined solely by underwater topography. Reef dives lame for experienced divers, but great for beginners. Night dive on the Rhone is awesome even for experienced divers. The Chikuzen is also a great wreck in 85 ft. (lowest point) water. But bring compass to find the wreck and your way back to the boat. Cuan Law is tough to beat for beginners! " Copyright 1998 by DSDL, Inc., publishers of Undercurrent. All rights reserved.
