South of Antigua, north of Dominica, tourists who don't speak French generally find difficulty getting by.. . . . Diving is average, but cuisine is out of this world. . . . . AquaFari, February 1997, Dean Clark, W. Hartford, CT. "My wife and I usually spend February at a house we rent in St. Anne, Guadeloupe. Normally I dive with "Les Heures Saines" near the Reserve Cousteau (Islets Pidgeon). This year there were 6 or 7 major bad construction projects, most on that side of the island. There was also a bus strike, and each day for 2 weeks the bus drivers would pick a spot and block the road with four buses or so, take their keys and go home. Alas, I decided to try "AquaFari", in LeGosier, which is closer to our house. The dives were shallow (2030 ft.) but excellent, off an island near the shop. Lots of tropicals, and 2 ft. octopus in the day time. The equipment and boat were excellent, the proprietors and skipper very nice and spoke fairly good English. One tank at 1 p.m. around $40. vis: 5075 ft. water: warm. Highly recommend for easy, pleasant dive. Also, great food, topless or nude sunbathing, great beaches, volcano and rain forest."
