Isla Margarita

Octopus, March 1995, Claude Koprouski, Oxford, MD. "After 40 years of diving, this outfit almost killed me and my daughter. Dropped us off on the lee side of inlet with insufficient air for this dive. We came up into rollers on the weather side and barely escaped being smacked onto the rocks. Boats were flat bottomed wooden skips - no ladders, no safety equipment. Captain of the 'Mother Ship' started drinking after the first dive. A crew member was already drunk. Marine life dull. No large pelagics. Only nearby dive site is 2 excruciating hours from port. Isla Margarita should not be considered on anyone's diving itinerary."
