Santo Dive Tours, 1995, Helena Henkin, Palo Alto, CA. "Luganville: ugly town, no beach, murky water and nothing to do than dive. Only hotel in town is Hotel Santo; Unity Park Motel is a youth hostel with shared facilities. Allan Powers, owner of Santo Dive Tours, has been diving the President Coolidge Wreck for 25 years. Goes to it or Million Dollar Point twice a day. Both are beach dives, but a guide helps at President Coolidge, since dives are 100200 feet. Great wreck; porcelain Lady-statute, tanks, medicine ampules still in the medicine room. Vis sucked. A couple of huge Australian Groupers (Larger than cods at Cod Hole in Australia) hung out at safety stop reef. I traveled alone and did not feel safe; I had to deal with 'Peeping-Toms' and self-exposures. Luganville does not get a lot of tourists and the locals have absolutely no idea of customer service."

Nautilus Scuba/Nautilus Scuba Apartments, August 1995, Alan Hutchison, Reno, NV. "On Port Villa waterfront. they have two apartments - comfortable, convenient to diving and town and reasonably priced. Two dive boats, trips to 2 sites every day. 'Twin Bommies' had an amazing concentration of reef fish. Star of Russia - a large sailing boat at 110' - outstanding wreck dive, even with vis 35'. Other harbour dives less interesting. 5-star operation geared for divers from Australia and New Zealand. Delightful town, probably the most attractive in the South Pacific. French influence but English spoken everywhere. Good restaurants and pubs. Prices reasonable!"
