Catalina

Catalina Divers Supply/Avalon, July 1995, Robert Mailand, Porterville, CA. "Super for resort course. 3 novice divers, 2 instructors to 30 ft for 30 mins."

Catalina West End Dive Center/Banning House, November 1995, Diane Gedymin & Frank Vertuca, Sebastopol, CA. "Dive operation was professionally run; instructors and boat captains helpful, knowledgeable and personable. . . . Water clear as Caribbean! Kelp forests visible from the bottom to the surface; tropical wrasses, gobi's, feather dusters, moray eels, garibaldis. 1/4" wetsuits but wore our hoods only on second dive of day. Two Harbors a remote village with dirt roads. We were only divers on the boat."

King Neptune Catalina Dives/Atwater Hotel, April 1995, Bob Williams, Mesquite, TX. "Learning experience for a warm water diver. Water 5862 degrees. Had a new wetsuit, hood and gloves. So buoyant it took 38 lbs. and an inverted swim down to 15.' Interesting to swim through kelp. Sometimes heavy surge (but we were always near shore.) Saw horn shark, sea slug, garabaldi. Vis only 25'. Dive staff friendly and helpful. Great boat, 50' with large cabin and compressor. Only 4 divers. Once divemaster established we were all experienced we were on our own. No rinse tanks and can't dry gear."
