Gizo Island Dive Solomons/Gizo Hotel, October 1995, James D. Bailey, Santa Barbara, CA. "Forty rooms and still building (saws wake you up early). Need more dive gear; One diver used rocks to get down. No first aid or radios on boats. 18 divers scared fish away. Vis. 40100 ft. water: 79°83°" Munda Island Solomon Sea Divers/Maquera Lodge, September 1995, James D. Bailey, Santa Barbara, CA. "Though no wrecks, this was the best: rooms, diving, everything. I was able to dive my computer; I was the only one that wanted to night dive, but they took me. Saw rays (pygmy spotted), and more flashlight fish than stars in the night sky. Vis. 80150 ft. water: 79°82°." Uepi Uepi Island Resort, July 1996, John Crossley, Midvale, UT. "Small, environmentally oriented resort visited mostly by Australians. Diving on nearby walls, 15 sharks every dive. Other fish life very good; tropicals, turtles, bumpheads, eels, barracuda, and nudibranchs. 23 dives/day. Small open skiffs holding 8 divers. Water, 8283 Degrees, Vis: 4080 Feet. . . . Cabins not airconditioned but are clean. Dinners excellent: Mud crab better then Alaskan King Crab. Lunches an interesting variety of Australian fare. Visits to local villages, native walks, local crafts. Friendly and family oriented resort, too. Tough place to get to, but great." Copyright 1997 by DSDL, Inc., publishers of Undercurrent.
