M.V. Clavella, September, 1995, Paul Vitkus, Reno, NV. "61 foot wooden boat, looks old and worn, but comfortable for 68 divers. Accommodations Spartan, but suffice. Staff excellent, enthusiastic, helpful and fun. Meals hearty and ample. Soft weights and aluminum 80's are provided. Air fills 3000 PSI. Drysuit divers bring your own ankle weights. Averaged 45 dives/day including night dives. Currents, drift diving and cold. Expect you to dive within your limits and dive profile. Diving off a whaler boat that pickups divers. Octopus, wolf eels and ling cod. Plenty of invertebrates. Great diving for the experienced, overwhelming for the beginner."

M.V. Clavella , March 1996, Doug Dent, Modesto, CA. "John deBoeck's knowledge of tides and currents invaluable. Vis 4080 ft. Good food. Boat rustic, wooden, a joy! Capt. sez , Get in the water at 0830 to catch slack tide, but we got in the panga at 0830 and missed slack for most of the dive 1st two days. Once understood, diving was drift/slack/drift and a real treat (cold: 43°). Browning wall is a must; covered with life competing for every square inch! No dolphins or orcas!"
