Canary Islands

Tenesub Marine, Tensel Hotel, Las Galletas, June, 1995. "Diving in Atlantic Ocean: 72° water; two piece wet suit. Visibility 80-100 feet. No coral but volcanic island with interesting underwater anemones, black coral. Less than average diversity of tropicals, but moray eel city (green, spotted, leopard, garden eels). Dive at Sting Ray City II: wreck with several stingrays, two spotted eagle rays, and one turtle fed by divemaster while an Atlantis yellow submarine comes by to watch. Snorkel trip to see pods of two to four pilot whales 13-15 feet. School of 17 dolphins around us snorkeling for 30+ minutes. Good diving operations; open water down to 100 feet. More advanced: certification depth of dive 150 feet. Tensel Hotel food below average. Tenerife too touristy but Gomera Island (by boat) unspoiled - too bad can't dive it." H. Hosek, Sherman, TX-aboards
