Boraca'i Visayas Far East, March, 1995. "Currents up to eight knots. 25 dive sites, plenty of small tropicals, nudibranchs galore, selection of hard corals, fewer soft corals than Moalboal. Lots of surface interval action on the near white beaches. This place is good if you have a nondiving significant other. Some sites showed signs of overfished, overdived. Other areas were great dives." Bruce Fox, Concord, CA Moalboal, Cebu, March, 1995. "Pescador Island was the place to go in Cebu for diving. The reef started at 10 feet and stopped at 155 feet. 77 degree water, 5080 foot visibility. Jampacked with the largest assortment of soft corals I have ever seen, huge anemones three feet across, varieties of clown fish, dozens of butterfly fish varieties. A novice diver could stay in the shallows, 1030 feet, for hours and be happy at everything to see, or an advanced diver could go over the wall and see a solid wall of coral; 80 percent soft, 20 percent hard table coral that could seat six. Infinite nooks and crannies for things grow in or to swim and live. Several prides of lionfish. The underwater island Tahabata Reef is a worthwhile dive starting at 70 feet with strong currents. Panagsama Beach was sad; the destruction was horrible." Bruce Fox, Concord, CA Copyright 1996 by DSDL, Inc., publishers of Undercurrent. All rights reserved.
