Koi Mala, April, 1995. "A FAM trip put on by Tropical Adventures for travel people. End of the diving season and weather was not the best. Locals say the best months are October to March: less wind, calm seas, good vis, little rain. . . . Diving is out of this world. Good fish population, large stuff as well. Coral is colorful and a good level of small/medium size soft corals. . . . Boats (not just this boat either) are not creature comfort oriented to American standards. . . . No A/C and no fans in the rooms. Ventilation based on hatches and port holes. If it rains, they close and it gets hot and stuffy. No towel or linen changes during nine day charter. No camera tables or charging stations on board. Meals were adequate but needed some variety. If you ate the food, the cook thought you must really like it so he kept fixing the same thing. No drinking water, except bottled water at $3/bottle. Wasn't even included for meals. Snacks between dives were almost nonexistent (except what we brought). . . . Don't get me wrong, if you want excellent diving but don't mind putting up with less comfort, you need to dive this area. Changes were recommended by the group and hopefully they will be taken seriously." Anon., Des Moines, IA.
