Jamaica, September, 1994. "Diving poor: anchordamaged coral, anything bigger than your hand was in the fish market for food. People horribly rude, crime rampant. People peeing in street, doing drugs and trying to sell them to you. Montego Bay is filthy. The stench is incredible (and I'm used to smells - I run a kennel.)." S. Jaqua, Stanton, CA Jamaica Grande, March, 1995. "The dive itself was brief although nice; 35 minute bottom time at 60 feet. We dived a relatively flat area that was coral/gravel. Not much in the way of marine life, just a few moray eels and some small crustaceans. Visibility was excellent and water temperature was great. This was a great dive for beginners, but for the experienced it was nothing to write home about. Pluses were the resort, the Jamaica Grande. Ocho Rios is wonderful (definitely go with the all inclusive plan) the weather, only rained twice all week. The minuses were the dive operation itself. The only instructor, a guy from Canada, didn't seem to like his job much, almost as if we were bothering him to take us diving. We only managed one dive the whole week. If you go be persistent in scheduling your dive. You will be asked your level of experience. The better divers get the better dives so keep that in mind when answering."
