Lizard Island, February 1995. "You get what you pay for and at Lizard Island you pay a lot. The food and service are absolutely firstclass. Many 'extras' (such as sailing, exploring the island's private beaches by motorboat, and all food service) are included in the exorbitant price. Diving is not included, but is a (surprisingly) low cost extra. The staff provides safe and total service diving. If they did any more they'd be breathing for you. The boat is rugged, fast and firstrate. Spacious for the number (three to eight) of divers. The afterdive lunch: huge platters of shrimp, lobster tail, cheeses, breads and pastries. . . . Cod Hole was interesting for beginner and experienced divers. Couple of turtles, sharks, water 84 to 88 degrees, visibility 100150 ft. . . . As an example of the service, three other divers and I signed up for the night dive. The other three canceled. No Problem divemaster and I went out on a boat dive (along with the boat captain). So I had a private dive for $35 US. . . . The rooms, while clean and adequate, don't match the standards set by the rest of the resort." Alan Horowitch, San Diego, CA Lizard Island, July 1994. "Unbelievable. The barrier reef beats all US/Carib diving. Is worth the price and the airplane rides. Staff at Lizard can't be beat."
