My Kisiwani, August, 1995. "Only third charter. Crowded; provision for 10, but we were 12. Captain and wife slept in wheelhouse to provide added room. Limit of 14 for deep water, so crew had to follow in fishing boat. Ate on top deck; luckily no rain; not enough room below to eat. Van and Sheela Ballard tried hard and crew friendly, attentive and helpful. Van tried to do too much, run boat, lead each dive, run Zodiac, fill tanks, fix broken items, etc. Needs to train crew and delegate more. Sheela worked hard: good cook, good varied food. Should train another crew member to find sites so two Zodiacs can go separately. Should train another divemaster. Should get spare outboard; one broke, limiting to one Zodiac pulling other. Should have crew load and unload; suit up with tanks on deck rather than in Zodiac. Need camera table and dedicated rinse tank. Should rearrange dive deck/lockers, etc. Should find remote dive sites; areas used are fished out by locals; few fish; no large ones. 78-80 degrees, 75 to 80 ft vis. Good trip anyway, but should be much better. Tie in with Kenya safari; excellent." Brien C. Hope, Cincinnati, OH
