Comments This was my third trip to the Galapagos, the first time was in 2005 aboard the Sky Dancer (which is now the Galapagos Sky). The boat itself hasn't really changed. This time I had a cabin on the upper deck that had large windows which made the cabin feel very airy. The cabin, beds, and bathroom were good - I thought the entire boat was in good condition. This trip was a short-notice opportunity for me - it was conducted by a conservation group called REEF. To save money, I shared accommodations with someone I hadn't met before, but it turned out well. I stayed one night at Guayaquil before heading to the Galapagos the next morning. The one night at the Oro Verde hotel is the recommended hotel by the Galapagos Sky folks. At $188 a night, it's not cheap. It's a nice place, with a good morning breakfast, and airport transportation included in the price. Others found accommodations at half the price. Once you get to the airport the EcoVenture folks take charge from there on out. You're checked in at the airline counter as a group. Having everything paid for prior to the trip (taxes, fees, etc.), made things so much easier. Notes that any time you use a credit card in country, an extra 14% VAT fee is tacked onto it.

The Galapagos Sky has two hot showers on the dive deck, I didn't need to use the shower in my room except for the last night. The toilet by the dive deck is great to hit just before/after a dive. Since the boat doesn't want you to put toilet paper in the toilets, I used that toilet so I wouldn't have to have soiled toilet pa ... Subscribe to get the full story.
