Prescription mask
« on: November 20, 2012, 22:03:16 UTC »
I'm headed to Fiji in April & the one thing I need most is a good prescription dive mask. Anyone w/ recent knowledge of 'Sea Vision' or 'Prescription Dive Masks' I would love to hear from. Or for that matter, any other providers out there. Those are the only two I'm aware of........... Thanks!

I bought a new Seavision mask last June.  Got the version with bifocal correction and it works extremely well.  This is my second Seavision mask and I love them.  They fit very well, no leaking and great optics.  I think it took them about two weeks to process and deliver my mask.  Highly recommended.

One interesting thing about the "near vision" portion of my mask;  Seavision grinds the "regular" vision on the inside of the mask so it really works just like a regular pair of glasses.  For the "near" vision part of the bifocal, they grind it on the outside of the lens and they are designed to work underwater only.

This made me worry when I first got the mask because the regular vision worked great  but the near vision at the bottom of the mask was blurry.  A quick call to Seavision and they said don't worry, it will be fine underwater.   They were totally right, as soon as you are underwater, the near vision part is very sharp and works perfectly.

take care,
John

Thanks for adding that bit of information! I bet that was a shock when you tried it on topside the first time.

You should have seen the look on my wife's face when she caught me dunking my head in a bathtub full of water looking at a small plastic fish.  I was skeptical you know :D

I have two and my wife her first Seavision mask.  I'm extremely happy with them.  I also like the Seavision mask juice, works extremely well too.  ;)
