Going to St. Croix
« on: October 14, 2008, 03:04:07 UTC »
Going to St. Croix next June - early July.  Looking for a good dive operation.  Also a must dive spot.

Judging from your experience, I must tell you honestly that you may want to look for more than Cane Bay Divers have to offer, unless they have upgraded their "fleet" since we last visited St. Croix (Aug. 2008).  In my trip report, I mentioned the boats and dive sites.  Their prices were good for St. Croix, but just no room on the rubber boat for divers.  We loved the hotel (Carambola Beach resort).  Have a great trip.

I too recently returned from St. Croix, January 2009 - eight dives!
I dove with "Cane Bay"  & "N2 The Blue" - both very good organizations.
True, "Cane Bay" still has it's small "rubber boat" on the north shore, but
has a much larger boat for the west shore.
When I dove the north shore, all dive sites are within a five - eight minute
boat ride.  First two dives, I was alone with a dive master and boat captain.
Good time all around.
I did a night dive with "N2 The Blue" - Frederiksted Pier - great dive.  Once again
just a dive Instructor and myself!  This was a shore dive.
Did the Pier both at night and during the day.  It's a must if you dive St. Croix...

Excellent observations, Marine9.  I should also commend Cane Bay Divers for their children and teen diver education program.  As we enjoyed the guides and staff of Cane bay, they also had ongoing programs for the next generation of divers running simultaneous to ordinary dive trips.  They do have the largest staff on St. Croix, and can get the job done on any particular day.    We also dove frederiksted pier ( during the day), not to be missed.

Try SCUBA in downtown.  Dove with them a few times. There are good sites on the north wall & SCUBA has a boat on the West side now. The sites are different there; there is wreck diving & I like the pier.
