Comments	We live in Southern Oregon and there's not alot of ocean diving available unless you are extremly desperate. I picked up a copy of Northwest Dive News from local dive shop and was encouaged with the possibilities of quality diving in the San Juan islands. Thus contacted Mike and Dawn at Island Dive out of Friday Harbor on San Juan island. They were very helpful and even arranged for a buddy since I was diving alone ($75 per day). The diving was great. Because I was the only paying diver for the two days, we took the smaller boat. The first day we found 3 giant pacific octopuses and too many to count lingcod etc. The diving was perfect but cold. With water temp at 53 F my dry suit was required and then I still got cold after an hour. Dawn then let me try out argon for the dry suit and boy did it help. They include 119cf steel tanks and weights with the charter fee. Everything was firstclass. Divers are lucky that the really good diving season starts in the fall after the tourist season, thus motels are half price.
