Comments Dove the Joe Patti Barge twice on a recent Saturday night. It was terrific - lots of small sea life, including 2-3 octopus, which hide among the many holes and metal sculptures. It was warm, shallow (50' to sand, 40 to deck), and had no current or jellyfish (on a different visit a month earlier we were surrounded by jellies). You see several different types of sea life among the muck, on the end of the barges and on top. If you turn off your lights and clap, you should be rewarded with bioluminescence.
The dive operator was the Scuba Shack, though not on their larger boat. This was a smaller boat, we had just 6 divers and a Dive Master - Chris, who I found as attentive as you wanted/needed him.The Captain (Ty?) was friendly and helpful. I've no qualms about recommending them and would gladly dive with them again (this was my 3rd trip with the Scuba Shack).
Plenty of water and fruit during the breaks.
