Comments This was out 5th trip, this time mid-June, back to the Florida Keys diving with Rainbow Reef Dive Center (MM100). We were so pleased with the RRDC operation the first time we dove the upper Keys that we have never considered (nor would we consider) diving with any other operator. All of our dives this trip were aboard either the Tropical Voyager or Tropical Adventure. Both boats have ample deck space and dedicated camera and mask buckets. All dives are guided at diver option. Boat Captains and crew are very friendly and knowledgeable.
As is typical for the Keys, conditions were luck of the draw. The week we arrived the “green water” moved in and the winds switched to an easterly direction which made conditions less than ideal. We began the week with about 60’ of visibility and 1’ – 2’ waves and ended the week with about 30’ of visibility and 6’ – 8’ waves. Nonetheless, it was a nice week of diving, conditions notwithstanding. Because conditions were not particularly good, I did not rate sea life or underwater photography.
As we’ve also always done while diving the upper Keys, we stayed at the Ramada Limited Key Largo (also MM 100). The rooms are always clean and comfortable, and as part of the stay they provide a very simple but nice continental breakfast.
We will likely make another trip back to the upper Keys to dive and assuming we do, we will most definitely dive with Rainbow Reef Dive Center.
