Comments This is a great place to go to "tune up" or to practice skills. They have a lot of LDSs holding classes and certifying, but it is a place to go for a weekend of simple diving and practice. Lots of fun stuff to look at- boats, a bus, props for pictures, and tons of little fish swimming around you. Water is ultra clear and very clean, vis is excellent for a quarry (rock bottom- so no silt), and the facilites are clean, affordable, and they even have an on-site campground. The campground has basic tent sites, as well as an RV area with up to 50amp service. There are no water hookups, and no bathrooms- just porto-lets, which was a disappointment. No soap is allowed in the fresh water shower, since that would cloud the water, nor is it allowed to be used anywhere in fear of runoff into the quarry. Dogs were allowed on leash, but not in the water. Everyone there was ultra nice- tons of beginner divers, but it never got too crowded it seemed underwater. Depth was 0-65' and the thermocline was around the 30' level. Below that- use a 5mm or 7mm for comfort. Equipment rentals were available, as was air fills- 10 fills for $35. There were no equipment repair or food available, and the dive shop was limited to basic neccesities. I highly recommend this place- well run place, laid back, nice people, and excellent water. It was highly enjoyable, 2.5 miles off the interstate, and there was a motel within 2.5 miles. Their website is www.lakerawlings.com. It was a definite "I will be back"
