I used the 2002 Edition of the Diver's Chapbook to research this week of
diving as I was taking my 13 year old grandson for his first tropical
diving. The choice of HMS Minnow (a 6 pack boat)was absolutely perfect. I
called several weeks ahead for reservations, which I was glad I had done,
as Capt. Jeff Jarvis will take the boat to places the first reservationist
requests. With my request for shallow dives befitting my grandson's needs,
we got what we asked for. For six mornings of 2 tank diving, Jeff took us
to a different site each day, and to one that was a special request from my
grandson. We saw many different fish, sharks, a turtle, scads of lobsters,
spotted and green morays, as well as the usual sponges and corals the Keys
grow. Jeff and his wife Betty were attentive to our needs and provided a
wonderful experience for my grandson (and me!), with dive site briefings,
helping with tanks, etc. They provided cold water, juice and fruit each
day, plus on-dock lockers to store our equipment overnight. I can
recommend the Minnow to anyone. The Holiday Inn we stayed at was just fine
and only steps away from the boat.

Just the month before this experience, I had been diving in various sites
in the Bahamas, where the corals were covered with an algae-like growth -
very sad. I found the corals in Key Largo to be in much better shape.
