Comments I was on an RV vacation in the Florida Keys and wanted to sample different dive operations. Florida Keys Dive Center got my business on two different days, among other things because they were willing to go out even when there was some wind and the seas were choppy. Other dive operations in that part of the Keys were more conservative. The whole dive operation is very relaxed, and the people are pleasant. Normally a divemaster does not go into the water with the divers, and there is an additional fee if an accompanying divemaster is wanted or needed. The dive sites we visited were rather ho-hum. Dive sites within the Looe Key Marine Sanctuary are noticeably better, and I suspect the same is true of Pennekamp. Even though the people were delightful, and the dive operation is run smoothly, I would not recommend this operation, since the Marine Parks are simply better diving. (Only after diving with Florida Keys Dive Center, and as I was preparing this report, I learned of the horrific accident in which they were involved in 2011. I saw nothing in 2017 that made me uncomfortable, but the relaxed and joking atmosphere I experienced is consistent with the possibility of being too relaxed, which is how accidents can happen.)

UW Photo Comments I was a little surprised that one of the crew tossed my camera to me, once I was i the water, rather than handing it to me to make sure that I had a hand on it before he let go.
