Comments Pre-dive briefing on day before trip and just before each of 2 days of diving. Takes about an hour to get to sunken ship, can be choppy. Seats in cabin or outside at bow--can be splashed! Boat ties off to buoy, divemaster attaches side line. Crew puts your tank on you at stern, you follow side line to buoy line and go down to ship. Shallowest point is 70 feet because ship lies on its side. Day 1 visibility barely 10 feet but calm seas and 50 foot visibility on day 2--great views of this big former training ship. Maps available to show you where to find commemorative plaques and ship's wheel. Wicked thermocline at 40-60 feet: 75 degrees above, 70 below--don't wear a shorty! Huge schools of red snapper, "baitfish" and spadefish. No big stuff except for southern stingrays and a few barracuda, butterflyfish, blue angels, sharpnose puffers, gray trigger, purple reeffish and very shy octopus among cold-water coral clusters. Divemaster found one lionfish. Very efficient crew, great opportunity for wide-angle photography.
