Comments Girlfriend and I dove with Badladz for 7 days in November, which was supposed to be the start of their high season. There were few or no tourists there - maybe because of the recent typhoons or the economy or lack of any nearby girly bars. The hotel is located on the water in the small port of PG, away from the tourist nightlife of Sabang and White Beach. It is within walking distance of five restaurants, two bars, and a grocery store. Being situated along a malecon that doesnt allow vehicle traffic, there is little noise. The food is good and inexpensive, with quite a bit of variety (including Mexican). Despite being their only paying divers most of the week, Badladz took us to the best dive sites, even twice to Verde Island (which is much further away than the other sites). Verde was by far the best dive - a fantastic wall chock full of critters and fish everywhere. Hole in the Wall was also good. JoJo and Gavin were some of the best divemasters I have ever dove with. Knowledgeable enough to know common and scientific names for most fish and critters, JoJo writes what he finds on a slate. Both divemasters find that happy medium of support and informative without intruding. Some of the dives were in heavy currents, which bring in lots of big jacks. Second dives were often in the bay, which has zero current and is great for macro. Giant tridachna clams are amazing. No sharks or other big pelagics. Rental gear is good and new. Just bring mask, fins, and 3 mil suit. Overall, 4 stars for the experienced (minus one for limited number of premium dive sites), 5 for the inexperienced. If heading to PG, go to Badladz for inexpensive personalized dive service, a decent cheap laid back hotel and restaurant. Unless you need the nightlife of Sabang, avoid the cattle boat diving of Asia Divers.

We spent 2 weeks with Asia divers and loved it. The fast cattle boat is used for the remote island dive, no other dive shop even has a fast boat. the other days we were with 4 - 6 divers on a Panga. Asia divers has excellent dive guides, excellent restaurant and the only pier specific for divers. The best managed and professional dive operation we have ever been with in over 20 years of diving. Ali, Pete, Josh and Jamie who are the Instructor/DM's at Asia are some of the best in the world.
