Comments The diving reminded us of Cozumel before the cruise ship destroyed it. Large variety of life, many large fish such as sharks, rays, and turtles. Reefs were healthy. Boat rides were 45 minutes to an hour, with hour-and-a-half surface interval. You can plan on spending most of the day on the boat. Staff and crew took good care of us, but quality and engagement levels of dive guides were highly variable.

Shore entertainment was plentiful. Town was a quick cab ride away, with many reasonable restaurants. We recommend Jyu Jyu and the Penthouse Hotel restaurant - call ahead to reserve lobster or coconut crab.

Rates at the Palau Pacific are high, and staff are paid only $2.00 per hour - find somewhere more reasonable to stay. We will be looking at the Caroline Hotel (Bungalows) for our next visit - and we look forward to a return.

Weather was bad during several days of our stay and limited the choice of dive sites. Be sure to bring rain gear for the boat.

Travel to Palau is expensive, and we shopped pretty hard for good fares. This is one of the best dive trips we've been on, with just the right mix of diving and shore activities. The diving was definitely some of the best we've been on, and we really want to return for another visit.
