A business trip to Guam got we six-days in Truk (Chuuk) whatever. I tried,
but was unable to hook up with the Thorfinn for a mid-week boarding, as
they were crusiing the islands. Upon arrival I spend my six-days following
THorfinn arouind the lagoon! Accomodations at The Blue Lagoon rooms were
clean and comfortable. I was blessed with low occupancy in June, resulting
in a second floor room with and ocean view, twin beds, a mini-fridge and a
large bath.
The Blue Lagoon operation was excellent and affordable. Our dive guide,
Chiney(PH) had been diving the wrecks for 30 years. Always flexible
wanting to meet our wants and desires we dove when and where we wanted,
with very personal attention, both above and below water. The boats are
another leave room for improvement; converted fishing boats with little
storage, no head, and minimual room with six people onboard. As noted
earlier, we spent the week shodowing the live-aboards. Aside were the
pampering and the ability to do five dives a day, Blue Lagoon was hard to
beat and a hell've lot cheaper. We usually dove three tanks a day, with the
exceptional day with four. Given the depths of some wrecks, three was
more in line with the profiles our computers we liked. The food at the one
an donly restaurant was good, but not gourmet. Service was with a smile,
if somewhat slow. We all questuionsed what it would be like in February,
during the anniversay of "Hailstorm" when were told a room is
hard to come by. Hope to return next year..let's that 80,000 frequent
flyer miles, or.....
