Comments I completely agree with all the reports that laud the service - absolutely fantastic. The guides, waiters etc etc. were all superlative. The accommodations and service on land and on the Pelagian were superb. The dive guides were great; informative with safety in mind but good fun too. The day dive boats were large with plenty of room and were set up well and the crews were excellent. The corals were indeed lovely but I have seen corals as good elsewhere. However, we were disappointed in the diving. We did have some great dives but also some mediocre dives - sometimes due to the currents that did not allow us to dive the site we were supposed to dive. What we were most disappointed in was the lack of creatures. We did see several pygmy sea horses, a couple of them pregnant (and thus easier to see) but there was a lack of variety to the nudibranchs; we saw no octopuses, one mantis shrimp, one cuttlefish, no ghost pipefish, frogfish etc etc. Elsewhere in Asia we have seen loads of these types of creatures and, thus, were disappointed as we had been expecting more variety from Wakatobi. There were a lot of reef fish, very colourful but pretty much what you get elsewhere and we did see the occasional dogtooth tuna and barracuda and had several sightings of bumphead parrotfish. We did get to see a mobula, which I have only seen once before. With the cost and complexity of getting to Wakatobi, coupled with the high cost of a stay there and on the Pelagian (though the accommodations and service certainly merit high prices) and the most expensive nitrox costs we have ever had to pay, our expectations were high. We were also disappointed that we were not able to dive the muck dive sites whilst on the Pelagian but this was due to the Indonesian's navy's presence in the area and they had banned access to the muck sites.

UW Photo Comments There was a dedicated camera room on the resort but we did not use it as it was pretty crowded and we preferred to set up on the balcony outside our cottage. On the Pelagian there was also a dedicated camera room which we did use. Plenty of electrical outlets.
