Comments It is a long journey to get to RajaAmpat but so worth it! The density of life as well as the diversity makes it truly a special destination. Some areas have strong currents but the knowledgeable dive masters of the Pindito always found manageable dive sites for us. The corals were lush and very colourful. We did not see any evidence of coral bleaching. The dive sites provided beautiful wide-angle opportunities but we also saw lots of macro creatures (various shrimps, anemone fish, pigmy seahorses, frogfish, nudibranchs etc). We saw a number of Wobbegong sharks and Mantas, Mobula Rays and tons of schooling fish. The dive groups were small with 4-5 divers per dive master.
The boat is very stable and comfortable with a great dedicated camera room. We were traveling with a group of photographers and there was ample room for everyone to set-up and charge their stuff.
The food was plenty and varied, mainly Indonesian style. The only negative is that the wine was very expensive and not very good. Beer and hard liquor, on the other hand, were complimentary. The owner of the boat was on board with us and took us to some of his favorite spots (various caves) to explore. He also showed us a very interesting video of how the ship was built. All in all a superb dive trip after hours of gruesome travel...
