My wife and I first found out about the Dewi from super-responsive travel
consultant, Mike Hoppe @ Reef and Rainforest, who helped us rush plan
last-minute, including being on call for us on Saturday and Sunday
pre-trip. We wanted a luxury liveaboard in Indonesia, and the Dewi was one
of the options that Mike suggested. Great suggestion!

We flew to Bali on China Air (super friendly service and nice planes) in
late July 2016 and stayed 2 nights at a resort on Mikes recommended list-
Discovery Kartika in Kuta, which had beautiful grounds and a curvy pretty
pool right on the water with an awesome included breakfast buffet and
phenomenal service. Its situated right in the heart of Kuta (which was
crammed with way too many chain restaurants and touristy stores for our
taste). We took a day trip with a private driver (a million options
exist), but no matter where you go, make sure that you drive by the
stunning and huge Rama with monkeys statue installation that is only
about 2 years old, on the outskirts of Kuta. Its in the center of busy
roads, but quite awe-inspiring!

On Dewi pickup day, while waiting for our Dewi driver to come to the
hotel, we started getting a bit nervous. It was 35 minutes past scheduled
time, and there was no answer the multiple times we tried calling the two
phone numbers (one a cell number) provided for the local Dewi office.
Lets face it, its a bit nerve-racking wondering if there is an accidental
glitch in critical logistics. I dont want to be the guy that misses his
dive boat embarkation. Then I thought to try the local email that Mike had
printed on our voucher. Boom instant response. No worries, driver on
the way and just stuck in traffic . . . phewww, that was reassuring. (Once
on the boat, another diver mentioned that Dewi had sent him a message the
day before at his hotel, letting him know that they knew he was there and
the time of car pickup. I wish they had used that system with us.)

Our Dewi driver, honking most of the way through scooter-chaos Bali
traffic, got us to the harbor area, where we immediately saw some
commercial boats tied to the dock, and then . . . whoa. . . there she is .
. . absolutely beautiful! We climbed into one of their tenders to take us
onto the water side of the ship and jump onto their outboard staircase.
Welcom ...
