Dove Black Rock (Sheraton) at night. I did this last year, and this one
was awesome! Saw turtles, lobster, crabs, lots of big eels swimming and
feeding, nudis, small fish. Easy entry from the dive shop at the Sheraton.
Other diver had just been OW certified, and this was a great experience
for both of us, with widely different experience levels. Guide Rob knew
where the critters were and pointed them out, after giving us a heads up in
the briefing as what to expect. Price of dive ($99 plus tax) includes all
gear and wetsuit; no discount for your own gear, but it was worth it to
have someone else washing it out and not getting sand in your gear and
lugging it back to your resort. I only used my own mask. At the full
moon, so maybe that's why it was even better than last year's dive. 5-Star
has operations at the major resorts in Kaanapali, so you could do a shore
dive at any of their locations. I did a morning dive off the Marriott last
year, and it was OK, but nothing special. Next time I'll try the Hyatt
reef.
