Matangi Resort has new dining pavillon and bures (huts & treehouses) of
the very highest order. Food is fantastic and your are pampered in your
every need by staff that outnumber guests at least 2-1. We were the only
scuba divers (lots of honeymooners), so pretty much told them where we'd
like to go every day. It rained a lot, and water is somewhat cloudy in
December, but the sites were superb. Hard and soft corals are like a jungle
from beautiful. Only saw a few sharks, but the corals and small
fish were so prolific it was exciting anyhow. Did no get to go to Great
White Wall as they require 4-6 divers for that, but divemasters Bale and
Sam would do anything you wanted. No bouys or anchors, the boat just
follows your bubbles and picks you up.

We have stayed and dived in many great places around the world, but Matangi
stands out among the best. Water was never rough. Other fun adventures at
Matangi include kayaking around the island, deep sea fishing, hiking the
shoreline...and just relaxing. We spent only 5 days, but we wish we had
been there at least a week. Staff was perhaps the best and friendliest
