Comments This is Cozumel, and it was the week of New Year's. We opted for a lower end hotel, and it was perfectly adequate. The boats left from an on-site pier, and the on-premises restaurant was very good. We had very good weather and conditions, and no real surprises, except that there was an additional charge of $13.00 per person for diving a 2 tank dive on New Year's Day. We had to cancel our trip in April, and this was a reschedule. Both the Barracuda Hotel and Dive Paradise moved us to this holiday week with no extra charges, which we appreciated and felt was very generous.

Boats arrived on time all but one day, and that one day was less than an hour late. We did have a wide variety of experience and competence among the divers on baoard, but I thought the divemasters accommodated everyone quite well. Extended bottom time and more foregiving depth profiles were allowed for more experienced divers, provided one remained within proper NDL limits. We had terrific diving all week, and no complaints.

Those who stay at the Barracuda should know that cruise ship crew members spend off hours there, sometime in large numbers. This is not all negative, but can make it loud during the afternoon hours. My wife and I enjoyed meeting the people from all over the world, and found their presense to be more of a plus than a minus.
