Comments This is our 12th year, and probably 20th trip here and it never disappoints! This trip we had our newly certified 12 year old grandson, Christian with us. After some mediocre dive operators in Fl., rough seas, and poor vis., this was like diving in an aquarium. Everybody, from juv. spotted drums, to tarpons, sea turtles, and spotted eagle rays were there to greet us. We went out with Ralf on most of our dives; he always goes out of his way to be friendly, helpful, and informative- both above and below the surface. On the others we dove with Linda, who has probably done a reef count of every fish on the reef by now! The shore diving off the home reef is equally nice. The accomodations are older, but well kept and very clean, and every trip we see some new addition. The staff is outstanding! All the rooms have full kitchens- good for breakfast and lunch. We bring much of our food with us, as the shopping is iffy- even though there are a lot more grocery stores. Joke's is a small convenient walk just 2 blocks away, and stocks many diff items. The main grocery stores are 15-20 minute enjoyable walk, and we walk just about everywhere while we are there. Karel's Bar on the water is a fun place to eat, and you can order from the shore restaurant, and have it delivered there. Bruce's dive shop is well equipped, and the friendly, helpful staff can repair just about anything. The boats go out twice a day for one tank dives, and a night dive can be arranged with enough people requesting one. The water entry is an easy backward roll, and re entry is by ladder. (People with back, knee problems can take bcs off in the water.) The divemaster always takes requests for dive spots, gives a thorough briefing, and goes in the water - you may or may not follow, depending on your desire. All of our dives were at least an hr, and people usually are courteous- getting back on when they see most go up. I would highly reccommend this resort to anyone who enjoys great diving on a laid back island.
