Our first visit to Belize and everywhere we went we were treated very well by friendly people. Even with divemaster Tony (Amigos) hard work gathering nurse sharks and pointing out rays, experenced divers won't be impressed with diving around ambergris Caye. Coral still has a long way to pre-storms recovery. We did not do any of the day trips (Blue hole etc) which depending on who you talk to should be better. Our travel agent was told by whomever they use in Belize that Ramon's village was full and we would have a much better stay at the Perla Escondita Villas. When we arrived the on site manager had no record of our resevation. The only unit was bottom floor right next to the unloading dock with a never ending string of trucks and forklifts all with functioning back up alarms. Not only did they not have our room but appartently the room configuration we reserved does not even exist at Perla. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. We walked on to Ramon's and found out they had many avalable rooms and it ended up costing less than Perla. The rooms were great with cool balconies, good food, and friendly staff. Some airport AM noise but its a small island. Food is expensive most everywhere. We had our meals at different places and were not disapointed anywhere. |
