Comments I arrived in Belize City a day early as I typically do on liveaboard trips, just in case. One passenger was delayed and came out on Sunday by boat taxi. Quite expensive. I stayed at the Radisson, right at the pier where the Aggressor docks. Very convenient. Hotel was fine. Dinner at Happy Hour on Friday night at hotel.

I will not go into detail on the BA III as it's been detailed in many other reports. I found most everything to be of top quality and had no major issues. Crew was EXTREMELY competent and service-oriented. Probably the best liveaboard that I've done and I've done several. Specific comments as follows:

1. Dive deck was extremely spacious. Plenty of room between divers. We had a full boat, yet I never felt the least bit crowded. DMs managed air fills promptly. Once they filled my tank with air vs nitrox. It was obvious when I analyzed and they promptly bled it down and filled it properly. Nitrox was advertised at 32%, but ran 29-31% most of the time. They still enforced the 111' (1.4 ata) limit, except on the Blue Hole dive where we all shifted to air.

2. Dive briefings were very well done. Safety was always emphasized. Most dives were typical wall dives. A DM was always in the water on each dive. Many times two crew members were in the water. Cameras were handled carefully and always put in a separate rinse tank.

3. Hot water and shampoo was available on the dive deck. Plus a fresh warm towel after EACH dive. Real nice service.

4. Most diving was on Lighthouse Reef on the leeward sides of Long Caye and around Half Moon Caye. Weather was excellent; mostly sunny, light to moderate winds. Viz was good, but not great by Belize standards. On Friday morning, the last two dives were on the west side of Turneffe Island where we did find the endemic toadfish.

5. Coral was in as good shape as I've seen in the Carribean. Small fish were plentiful, but large ones were scarce. A few eagle rays and a couple sharks.

6. Food was at best, GOOD. Meat was generally overcooked. They tried to cater to all special requests and were very responsive.

7. There were technical problems with the weekly video that they try to sell, so they gave each passenger a copy of the 10-12 minutes that was salvaged. Nice touch since I never buy the video.

8. I'd recommend the new Living Planet Diving and Snorkeling book on Belize, recently revised. It describes all the sites we dove and provides reasonably accurate detail.

Overall a very well run operation, decent Carribean diving, and a extremely responsive crew. I'd do it again without question. Email me for more info.

UW Photo Comments Three tiers on camera table, however only top tier used for cameras. Second tier was used for changing stations and bottom was for misc. junk. With 6-7 photogs, table was a little crowded. With more is would be a problem. Need to clear out lower two levels for cameras.

Also need an air source at camera table.

Computer available for backups (CD & USB) and viewing/editing.
