Refunds on Flight Tickets?

from the April, 2020 issue of Undercurrent   Subscribe Now

If you canceled your flight in the past month, most likely all you received was an opportunity to rebook at a later date, probably within the year, and you might pay a penalty for that. Some airlines have modified that policy and eased the rules.

However, if an airline cancels your flight -- fact, if there are significant schedule delays -- you're due a full refund. That's the U.S. Department of Transportation Rule as well as an EU rule. Because they are in severe financial difficulties, many airlines are trying hard not to rebook, but stand your ground.

If you're having difficulty reaching your airline or they refuse to refund, fall back on blocking the charge through your credit card company. Let them help you handle the dispute.

Here's a good article with plenty of tips for securing your refund. https://tinyurl.com/txwcy3h
