Cayman Diving Lodge is located on the east end of Grand Cayman. The rooms
were clean, well cared for and air conditioned. The facility is set up for
Scuba Divers. Daily price includes room, three meals per day plus
afternoon snacks, and two or three boat dives daily. Night dives and trips
to Stingray City are extra and require a minimum number of divers to sign
up. The staff makes you feel like you are part of their family. Once you
put your gear in a provided mesh bag, you don't have to handle it again
unless you want to. They carry it to the boat and hook it up. When you
are through diving for the day, they carry it back, rinse it in fresh
water, and store it in your assigned locker. Seperate facilites are
provided for guests to hang up their wet suits. The view from the resort
is great.
While we were there, it was quite windy with 3 to 5 foot swells. Each
boat (they have two) is equipped with a bar to hang onto while you take off
your fins. A crew member then stands on the ladder to steady it for your
exit out of the water. It was the best experience we had had in rough
weather diving. Naturally, there was plenty of water and either punch or
lemonade on the boat, and dry towels for each of us. Usual number of
divers on a boat was 8-10, with a minimum of two well trained crew
members.
We were there during a windy period with rough seas and had a great time.
When it is calm, this resort would be hard to beat for the price, service,
accommodations and friendly staff.
